Osteopaths in England are able to see most people for face to face treatments (we are still not treating patients who have symptoms of Coronvirus or who are self-isolating due to having been in contact with someone who has).
In line with Public Health England and Government recommendations, it is recommended that, unless exempt, patients should still wear a face-covering when receiving osteopathic care due to the close contact required. It is worth reminding you here that telephone consultations are still an option if you would prefer to talk to the osteopath without being in a face to face situation. However, if you feel you need a ‘hands on’ treatment, then please read the Clinic Policy document to see some of the main changes that have been put into place to minimize the risk of spread as much as possible.
Before putting you in the diary I will need to determine any potential risk to you or anyone in your household of a face to face appointment. If a face to face appointment is deemed appropriate, then I will take you through some further simple questions regarding COVID-19 symptoms Pre-appointment COVID-19 screening form and I shall also explain to you the potential risk of a face to face consultation alongside which I shall explain the changes I have made to minimize these as much as possible details can be found in the Covid-19 Clinic Policy 06.11.20. If you are happy with the new levels of infection prevention and control measures that I have put in place and you consent to a face to face appointment, bearing in mind that the 2 metres distancing rule cannot be maintained throughout the whole session, then we are ready to get you in the diary.
This new regime is as inconvenient to me as it is to you, but it is for now the ‘new normal’. As osteopaths we aim to enable people, through better health, to live their best lives and despite this added palaver, now more than ever, this is what I am looking forward to doing.
